That's Pinteresting: Sharpie Mugs

If you're on Pinterest, you most def know what I'm talking about when I say Sharpie mugs. Ya know, the "good morning, handsome/beautiful" / "Mr./Mrs." type.

Well I decided to give making my own Mr./Mrs. mug pair a shot. I opted for a monogrammed set instead of one with sayings, but it was a close call!

Here's what I did:

I picked up some white mugs at our local Dollar Tree and I used some Sharpies we already had at home.

I made a fancy schmancy perfectly aligned whimsical border to frame our monogram (basically two curly brackets turned sideways and stacked on top of each other).

After taking notes/being chastised by the woman who ordered our wedding invitations, I wrote our monogram. Apparently the woman's name always goes first in a monogram, address, etc. so that the man is never separated from his last name (but saying "Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Hancock is totally correct). I went 21 whole years without knowing this. Etiquette is seriously a lost art.

I drew a line around the top of the mug that matched up with the curly brackets and went to town drawing imperfect vertical lines.

I kiiiiinda messed up on the whole getting-the-line-level thing, but I had some nail polish and a cotton ball handy and wiped it right up!

See? Good as new!

I finished the mugs by drawing hearts under the handle.

I put them in the oven on 350 degrees for 30 minutes. My mom and I read that its important to set the mugs in the oven then turn it on, let them bake, and promptly turn it off after 30 minutes. I'm letting my mugs stay in the oven overnight just to be sure they are cool and not undergoing any crazy temperature changes.

I'm really happy with how they turned out! I will most definitely be doing this project again!
